Day 01 | Cusco – Arrival and City Tour in CuscoWe pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel to make the check in and relax a little, then we start our City Tour around Cusco. The bus will pick you up at the hotel and take us around upper Cusco where we will visit the ancient Inca and pre-inca constructions Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. After sightseeing the ruins we descend to the city centre to explore its pre-Inca, Inca and colonial streets, visit the Inca temple “Koricancha” (Temple of the Sun) and finally the Cathedral on the “Plaza de Armas”, Cusco’s main square. After the tour you are free to explore the city on your own – just ask your guide for the best places to visit, drink and eat or do some shopping. In the evening dinner transfer and overnight in Cusco. |
Day 02 | Cusco – Sacred Valley of the IncasToday we will visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a tranquil oasis of cultural, historical, and agricultural richness just 45 minutes from Cusco where the Incas once built important cities such as Pisac and Ollantaytambo. We will enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape and arrive in Pisac to visit its archaeological complex which boasts one of the most extensive Incan ruins in Peru. We will explore the impressive site with its military, religious, and agricultural structures and then descend to the centre of Pisac to visit its traditional market where you can buy and admire textiles, ceramics, handcrafts and other typical Peruvian products. Then we continue to the village of Ollantaytambo, which was once the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti and at the time of the Spanish conquest served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, the leader of the Inca resistance. After exploring the Inca ruins we return to Cusco, arriving late in the afternoon. Dinner transfer and overnight in Cusco. |
Day 03 | Cusco – Machu PicchuYou’ll be picked up at the hotel at around 05.30am and transferred to the train station Poroy to take the train at 6.40am to Aguas Calientes, the town closest to Machu Picchu. Arriving in Aguas Calientes we will take a bus up to Machu Picchu where we are going to have a guided tour (approx. 2,5 hours), allowing time for contemplation of the amazing scenery. We will explore the Intiwatana (Temple of the Sun), the Temple of the Condor, the Temple of Three Windows, Andean terraces, and other places of interest. You will have enough time to walk around the archaeological complex, capture these incredible memories on camera and feel and appreciate the energy and peacefulness of this sacred place. We return to Aguas Calientes by bus and later in the afternoon (at 16.43) take the train back to Cusco where we’ll arrive at around 20.23pm. Dinner transfer and overnight in Cusco. |
